Professor Bogdan Galwas was the founder and long-time director of the Distance Learning Center at the Warsaw University of Technology, a pioneering institution promoting a modern approach to academic education. He was passionate about the application of information technology in education, deeply believing that the development of e-learning and innovative teaching methods was not only the future of education but also the necessity of its modernization and democratization. His vision and experience were ahead of his time.

As a member of the Senate of the Warsaw School of Computer Science, Professor Galwas actively participated in the academic life and decision-making processes of our University. He brought invaluable wisdom and a commitment to the highest educational standards. He always emphasized the importance of quality teaching and the need to adapt the curriculum to the dynamically changing technological and social realities.

Professor Bogdan Galwas was also the author of two excellent monographic volumes, which remain valuable resources for students and professionals to this day: Fundamentals of Microwave Telecommunications (Podstawy telekomunikacji mikrofalowej) and Fundamentals of Optowave Telecommunications (Podstawy telekomunikacji optofalowej). These publications not only document the Professor’s extensive knowledge and experience, but also constitute a lasting contribution to the development of Polish technical thought in the field of telecommunications and engineering.
