Rolf Jansen

Rolf H. Jansen received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, Germany, in 1975. From 1976 to 1979, he was a Senior Scientist performing research in Aachen, Germany. From 1979 to 1986, he was an Associate Professor with Duisburg University, Duisburg, Germany. From 1986 to 1992, he was a Senior Research Engineer with GEC Marconi, Caswell, U.K., where he was involved with GaAs monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) technology. Since 1994, he has been the Chair of Electromagnetic Theory with RWTH Aachen. From 2000 to 2004, he was the Dean of the Electrical Engineering and Information Technology Faculty, RWTH Aachen. From 2004 to 2011, he acted as the German Director of the TGGS project (Thai German Graduate School of Engineering) in Bangkok, Thailand. He is a pioneer in microwave computer-aided design (CAD). He is author/coauthor of approximately 250 technical papers and three patents in the fields of EM, microwave components as well as GaN and OLED technology.,Prof. Jansen served more than 20 years in various functions for IEEE, namely as German MTT Chapter Chair 1985−1991, on the Board (AdCom) of the IEEE MTT Society 1989–997, as Division IV Director 1995−1996, and as Germany Section Chair 1997−1999. He pioneered EM-oriented Microwave CAD since 1988 and was IEEE Distinguished Microwave Lecturer in 1987/1988.
